Never give up: The Ivanize Experience
I produced a brief documentary on Ivan Humphries, well known Detroit
Hair Stylist. He briefly talks about his experience in the hair industry
and how he was able to finally live his dream of opening up his own
hair school.
Ivan talks about how life can sometimes hit us hard
but the key to life is not giving up. Go for what you want despite what
others may think and despite what it takes to get to where you want to
be.
He is a known stylist in his era and is known for doing different celebrity's hair, such as Aretha Franklin.

I had to play around with my different shutter speeds, F-Stop and ISO settings in order for me to capture a photo that was not blurry.
This was a good experience for me because it helped me to get used to using different settings. It was also a great game, the Wayne State Warrior won against the Blue Devils, 82-72.

Braid My Hair!
My portraiture assignment was taken at Salon Ivanize, a local hair salon
in Detroit, Michigan. This assignment was a little tougher than I
expected. When taking the headshot, I had to take a few pictures to try
to accomplish my goal for the assignment. In order to get a close to
perfect headshot I needed to make sure the background was clear and no
distractions. This was sort of hard because of all of the tools and
space inside the hair salon. So I decided to take the head shots in
front of a plain white wall, drawing attention to only her face and not
the background. The environmental portraiture was a little difficult for
me because I captured pictures of the stylist doing hair and it was
difficult trying to capture the right image with the stylist and client
both moving around a lot. But overall this was a great experience for
me.
